Suggest Treatment For A Painful Lump On The Groin Area
At 2 months old my son had a surgery to remove a inguinal hernia and a hydrocele from his right side. Now at 14 months old he has a large lump on his left side of his groin which looks like another inguinal hernia to me. when I take him to doctor it isn t there it only shows up if he has been crying or at night when he has been active all day. So the doctor sent him for an ultrasound and asked for me to send pictures which I did. The ultrasound came back normal. So what is this lump then?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have painful lump on the groin area . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like folliculitis , hydrocele , inguinal hernia , allergic reaction , lipoma and STD .I would suggest you to consult dermatologist for proper examination . Doctor will examine physically by palpating the area check the tenderness and consistency , doctor may also take sample for lab test . Doctor may also order ultrasound . Doctor may prescribe antibacterial or anti viral depending upon the diagnosis along with corticosteroid ointment . Wear loose cloths and do not apply any cosmetic product . Doctor may also recommend surgical excision or liposuction in case of lipoma. I would suggest you to take proper rest , apply warm compresses on groin area and take ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
