Suggest Treatment For A Rash On The Neck Despite Taking Tetracycline

I am 54 year old woman recently hiking in woods and have red rash on neck that doctor said was lyme disease and started me on tetracycline 3 days ago but I feel worse after starting the medicine - no fever, headaches but back ache and joints hurt - knees, elbows and terrible fatigue No blood tests - is this the right protocol? Can it be something else? The rash appeared after I had an indundibular cyst removed on the center of my chest I also had shingles about 25 years ago

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,

As per your case history, you are suffering from an irritant Dermatitis.

My treatment advice is:
1. Do not scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild topical steroid cream like Fusiderm-B cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an antihistamine medication like Levocetirizine twice daily for 7 to 10 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral steroid like prednisone or betamethasone taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
