Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had a rash under my breast for over a week. It resembles pics of yeast infection I have seen on the internet. I have been using a cream for the past 3 days:cc rx hydrocortisone cream usp 2.5% but it doesn t seen much better. continue with the cream or do I need something else.
Women with larger breasts, who wear tight bras, sweat excessively and live in humid environments, are particularly prone to rash. This rash is mostly due to fungal infection with superimposed secondary bacterial infection caused by skin damage. Large breasts usually mean that the fungi can thrive in a warm, dark and moist environment within the infra-mammary fold. Tight underwire bras especially can lead to chaffing and breaks in the skin. Scratching due to itchy breasts causes micro-tears and further increases the risk of infections. Perspiration provides the moisture that these fungi need for survival. Advice 1. Apply cream containing clobetasol, gentamicin, miconazole (Lobate – GM cream) thrice daily 2. Use dusting powder containing ketoconazole/fluconazole 3. Do not wear tight bra 4. Wear loose cotton clothes 5. Never share personal items like bras as the infection can be easily spread from one person to another Thanks
