General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Swelling and soreness in the hand after trauma may persist for many days, however, if there is no improvement and there is difficulty in gripping, then its very important to get an X-ray of the hand done to rule out any minor fracture.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
