Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Urinary incontinence is a symptom and not a disease. However, it can be caused by everyday habits, underlying medical conditions or physical problems.Treatment of the condition will depend on the identified cause.Possible causes may include:
-UTI
-Bladder muscle changes with age
-Much fluid intake
-Constipation
-Enlarged prostate/prostate cancer
-Neurological disorders like Multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, stroke, a
brain tumor or a
spinal injury can interfere with nerve signals involved in bladder control, causing urinary incontinence.
-Metabolic/ionic imbalances
I will suggest you see a
Urologist for evaluation.A urinalysis, fasting blood sugar, renal function test and an abdominal ultrasound may be useful for initial evaluation.Other tests may be requested after evaluation by the Doctor. If the cause is identified as infection, antibiotics will be prescribed based on the type of germ in cause.
As for his low sodium, it may be caused by some medications, Heart, kidney and liver problems, SIADH, Drinking too much water,
Dehydration, Hormonal changes.I will suggest you continue with the prescribed drugs and increase his salt intake.Regular checks will however be very important.
Hope this will help
Best regards
