Diabetologist 's  Response
Hi,

Diarrhea, sometimes accompanied with malabsorption, steatorrhea, and crampy abdominal pain, are frequent complaints in some patients who have myotonic muscular dystrophy.

I would recommend trying a course of antibiotic Norfloxacin (either alone or in combination with Cholestyramine) to alleviate this symptom. This combination has been found to be effective in some patients who have this problem.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Saumya Mittal ,
