Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Pain And Diarrhea

I had cholecystectomy 10 years ago, and subsequently had problems with diarrhea. So physician prescribed cholestrymine to bind feces. Well, that works fine. 2 years ago, started having severe upper abdominal pain and had to have surgery to remove stones from Biliary Duct. Then I started having same symptoms again this past May and had to have same procedure again! Gastroenterologist told me that he did not have a clue as to why my liver is producing so much bile and it keeps clogging up my biliary duct! The last time, My liver was so inflamed they had to keep me in hospital and give me antibiotics intravenously before they could operate. Is there anything that I could be doing to thin out the bile so that it doesn t form stones ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I think there is no drug for thinning bile. You must try to decrease fatty foods as they stimulate bile secretion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
