Hi,
Can you mention the blood tests done and their reports? Stool examination also done?
Bloody
diarrhea indicates
dysentery, which usually needs antibiotic treatment also, but your doctor might have deferred it seeing blood reports. For such cases, I used to give antibiotics like
cefixime 200 mg twice daily for 5 days, along with
paracetamol, probiotcs and ORS solution.
If you are not having fever, not feeling dizzy and vomiting is controlled, just continue given drugs for 2 days and see the response. Take plenty of oral fluids like ORS solution after each stools to prevent
dehydration.
If not getting down in 2 days, the amount of blood is large / with clots, kindly review with your doctor once again.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
