Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Pain, Fatigue, Numbness And Flaky Stools

I am 38 year old female diagnosed with UC. I have tried sulfasalazine and it doesnt seem to help. My GI doctor has attempted to prescribe various mesalamine tablets that my insurance is refusing to pay for and I cannot afford $400 a month. My problem is the pain in my abdomen, tired, lifeless feeling, and flaky stools that occur more than 3 times a day. Some days I won t have a bowel movement at all, other days it s diarrhea. It takes forever to go to the bathroom. I m never sure if I am finished. I just want to go back to being normal. I can t seem to pin down which foods are causing it to worsen. What should I do?

Hello,
you are diagnosed Ulcerative colitis as you are mentioning, if it is there than SALAZOPYRINE is the drug of Choice in this disease,so you continue with Salazopyrine 500mg tabs.three times a day along with you may try Metronidazole 400 mg thrice a day for a fortnight(15 days), because it may be possible that you may have protozoal(amoebic) infection too along with UC.so you will get much relief by it. Also you must restrict your diet as fat free and no spicy diet, along with avoid fried food and take bulky,rich fiber diet. By such treatment you may be relieved from your problem you are facing .Good Luck and take care .
