Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Pain When Diagnosed With Diverticulitis

HI! I went to an emergency care yesterday because I started having symptoms of diverticulitis. I was disgnosed through CT years ago, and had diverticulitis once before. This time I had no fever but moderate abdominal pain and tenderness on the left side. I was prescribed Cipro, twice a day, and Flagyl three times, and am feeling better after less then 24 hours. My question is if I could use something against the bloating, it seems be worse because of the meds. Thank you in advance Heidi

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The bloating is probably related to the use of antibiotics.

I suggest using simethicone medication.

I also suggest using daily probiotics.

I recommend to drink liquids and eat a fiber-rich diet.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
