Thank you for asking Healthcare majic.
My name is Dr Ehsan Ullah &
I have gone through your query regarding abscess on buttock of your 6 years old child.

well, you are prescribed antibiotics for this condition and i am not sure by your question whether you have completed that course of antibiotics or not...
the prescribing physician after clinical assessment of the patient in such condition suggests antibiotics for a period of time.

if your kid has started those antibiotics a day or two back then he needs to continue to complete this course .

if kid's condition is not getting better and even worsening then you need to seek immediate medical consultation.

usually in such cases, abscess are treated initially via conservative management like by antibiotics and pain medications.
&
if the condition does not improve or get worse then then there is other way of management which is via surgery.

my opinion is that you should complete the antibiotic course for its given duration and if you observe no improvement or further problems then visit the nearest health facility

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
