Hi... I am 39 years old and have not got my periods since last two months. I have always had a history of irregular cycle but off lately they were regular.. Doctor suggested Pelvic ultrasound which stated that the endometrial echo is thickened in midline and measures 14.33mm ... Is this dangerous? Do I need to get a biopsy done?
Hi there, Welcome to HCM, Missing your period and an endometrial thickness of more than 10 mm, will require further evaluation. It will be best to get an endometrial biopsy, this can be easily done in the gynecologist OPD, using the Pipelle. The biopsy will give us an idea regarding the reasons for the thickening, sometime especially in women over 40 the likely of progesterone imbalance leading to excess thickening and sometime cancer can occur. So best to get a biopsy. Hope this helps. Regards.
