Exercise induced GERD is common & gulping air during exercise may relax the lower esophageal sphincter causing 
acid reflux & there by worsening the condition. 
Also GERD needs lifestyle modifications as the main stream of treatment
 I advice you to 
-Take PPI (ormeprazole, 
pantoprazole or rabeprazole
- Avoid 
smoking & fatty foods, alcohol, chocolates, garlic, onion, coffee etc. 
- Prefer diet low in protein, fat and high in carbohydrates before workout. 
- keep yourself 
stress free as it is one of the trigger 
- Try to sleep in left lateral position & also avoid recumbency 2 hours after food
