Suggest Treatment For Acne

Our granddaughter is 14 in February. She has problem with cysts on her face and acne. She uses a lot of makeup and bleaches her hair a lot as well. She has been to dermatologists but still has the problem. Her diet is questionable as well as she eats a lot of chips and definitely not a balance diet. What will help her clear this problem up

Hello,
Welcome to healthcare magic.
From your history and description, I understand that your grand daughter has moderate to severe degree acne.
You have not mentioned the treatments she had taken.
She will benefit from taking a course of oral isotretinoin. This has to be taken only under the supervision and monitoring of a dermatologist.
She could also use a gel containing clindamycin in the morning and a gel containing 2.5% Benzoyl peroxide / 0.1% Adapelene at bedtime.
She could also get salicylic acid based peels done by a dermatologist.
Diet definitely plays a role in controlling acne. Please ensure that she has a good, healthy diet with lots of vegetables and fruits. Avoid sugary foods and deep fried foods. 2-3 liters of water per day is advised.
Please ensure that she uses water based make up. Daily use of heavy make up like concealers and foundations should be avoided.
These measures will definitely help your grand daughter to have an acne - free skin.
Take care.
