Suggest Treatment For Acne

Hi, I m Briana and I have mild to moderate acne. I used every acne product there is out there. From High end/expensive products to drug store! I am over having to cover my face constantly and feeling insecure about my face. What product will be highly effective for my acne! Please Help! I currently bought melacare face and lotion cream. Should this work or what is more reccomandable for my acne?

Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

I can very well understand your concern and frustration over acne and your desire for a clear face. Since acne is a chronic condition therefore you need to be constantly taking care of your skin, till the tendency for new acne formation exists.

Hormonal imbalances, sweating, humidity, cosmetics, stress, diet etc may play a role in acne.

Acne can vary in severity in individuals, the severity varying from mild to severe. Treatment of acne should be titrated according to the severity of acne.

Melacare cream has a steroid component and is mainly used for Melasma by dermatologists. It should not be used without prescription and is not meant for acne because the steroid component present in melacare can itself cause more acne!!

Rather than trying different products and experimenting with them, I would suggest that you seek an appointment with a dermatologist and discuss the most appropriate specific treatment for your acne.

Topical treatment of acne mainly revolves around topical antibacterials, benzoyl peroxide and topical retinoids. Topical retinoids are comedolytic thereby preventing new acne. Topical retinoids are also excellent for maintenance of improvement.

Oral antibiotics like doxycycline or azithromycin can be very useful if you have inflammatory acne(papules and pustules).

You could also take a few peeling sessions e.g salicylic acid peels, from a dermatologist. Salicylic acid peels are specific for acne.

Hope this helps

Regards
