Hello. Thank you for writing to us at healthcaremagic

Acne commonly affects the young. The severity varies from individual to individual and so does the treatment. Moreover treatment is long term and requires modifications in due curse of time.
You seem to have moderate to severe grade of inflammatory acne therefore topical treatment alone would not be effective.
If I was the treating doctor I would have started him on Oral Retinoids e.g Isotretinoin.
Isotretinoin is sebostatic, comedolytic and antinflammatory. Therefore, it has a multipronged action in treatment of acne.
Besides Oral retinoids, topical treatment with topical benzoyl peroxide cream or wash is to be continued as before.
Oral retinoids are prescription drugs and I suggest him to visit a dermatologist for a prescription of the same.
You dermatologist might also start you on oral antibiotics e.g either Azithromycin, Doxycycline Or Lymecycline etc if acne is inflammatory i.e red, painful and pustular.

Regards
