Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
The outside of my right knee is very painful. About 2 weeks ago, the pain was on the outside of my right ankle. Are these pains related? When the pain was in my ankle, it only hurt when I touched it. It did affect my walking. The knee pain is chronic and acute. I have a very hard time walking as it causes pain. Should I have it looked at by a professional?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have knee pain . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons like anterior cruciate ligament injury ,torn meniscus , knee bursitis , patellar tendinitis , knee cap dislocation and rheumatoid arthritis . But in your case it seems to me the symproms are probably due to ligament injury or knee cap injury . I would suggest you to consult orthopedic surgeon for proper diagnosis . Doctor may order X-ray , CT scans , ultrasound , MRI and blood tests to confirm the diagnosis . Doctor may recommend muscle strengthening exercises along with injection of a corticosteroid drug , muscle ralaxant and surgery like arthroscopic surgery in severe damage . For noe apply warm compresses to knee , take proper rest , drink plenty of water and elevate your legs while lying down . Doctor may also recommend physical therapy .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
