hello doctor my father has been addicted to drinking and he is not suffering well cycologically also so we joined him in asha hospital but not in deaddiction centre he was not intrested in joining there after staying for 15 days in hospital when came out for 2 days again he is drinking regularly so we heard about nimhans and can u give us any suggestions doctor

Hello,
The addiction of alcohol is a major health problem. Till the person himself is ready, no medicine can help to control or stop addiction.
I think nimhans is a good option as your father will require a residential de-addiction program which will motivation enhancement therapy and some medications. Nimhans has all, a psychologist for counselling and psychiatrist for medicines. You must visit there.

Alcohol Dependence is a distressing problem. It affects the patient as well as his family.
Relapse to alcohol consumption is the nature of this problem. I think your father requires long term inpatient treatment program. The withdrawl symptoms of alcohol are to be managed with drugs.
Also motivation enhancement therapy would be done by a clinical psychologist to increase his motivation to quit alcohol.
NIMHANS is the best place to go to.
