Suggest Treatment For Allergic Cough In A 7 Year Old Child

my daughter has always cough problem she is 7 yrs old . doctor say that it is allergic cough. last time she had pneumonia symptopms , later she was clear with the antibiotic and nebuliser , now again after a month she got cough, sometimes she vomits out the cough , you can see white coloured sticky cough coming out. what medication i do bcoz i can keep her on medicine , she have lost weight too. right now i am giving her brozeet and zecuf along with nebulistation of astahin once a day

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your child have symptoms of allergic cough which is due to severe upper respiratory tract infection. It could be due to severe allergic reaction as well. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to start with course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. Avoid giving cold beverages. First identify what the things which provoke allergic cough and try to avoid those things. If you have any particular allergy you can go for desensitization therapy. I would suggest you to consult pediatrician/ ENT specialist without any delay . Doctor may order blood test , throat swab test or make take history. You should get an x ray of the chest. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin at least for 10 days along with mucolytic agents. Go for complete blood count. You should avoid hot, sharp and spicy foods. For now do warm saline rinses , take rest.
