Suggest Treatment For Altered Sense Of Taste Post Recovery From Throat Infection

I have had very dry throat, blocked nose with thick clear mucus that seems to run to my throat which makes me cough, NO taste, No smell, I have had antibiotics 10day cause, also Prednisone, mucus is clearing but after 14 days still food is tasteless. this all stated November 7. This started had blood test, then eat mulberries straight from tree but didn t know that we have flying fox in our tree, could that have anything to do with my problem, I am 65 & have Never had any thing like this before, I hope to be able to see a doctor in my town tomorrow again. hope for some ideas & help Irene

The symptoms are in keeping with either an acute infection or allergic response.
Post nasal drip (drip of mucus to the back of the throat ) is very common and it is the most common reason for chronic cough.

If there is no evidence of an acute infection (cough/flu or sinus infection), then you may want to consider allergy testing to see if there is a particular substance causing this reaction.

Allergy testing can be in the form of blood tests or skin prick testing.

Skin prick testing would require a dermatologist or allergist.
