Suggest Treatment For An Aging Knee Cap

Over years my knees have become week. I am 72 years old, heavy weight and get little exercise. It s to the point now that the knee can support me for an hour or two. The strange thing is that there is absolutely no pain to the knee or any where else. I noticed today that my knee cap was cold and the rest of my leg was warm. Please advise. Ray Wagner

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
It seems that your problem might be due to degenerative changes occurring in knee joint like lax joint muscles, lack of lubricating fluid in joint space or weak ligaments of joint.
Go for x-ray of knee joint to know extent of osteoartheritis changes.
Go for regular Patellar exercises daily, 10 minutes in the morning and evening.
Avoid more bending of joint.
Avoid squatting position.
Take calcium and vitamin D supplements.
Ok and take care.
