Suggest Treatment For An Infection Of Cold And Fever

I have had the regular winter cold for approx a month and a half. I got sick, the whole head cold, swollen glands, coughing, excessive phlem, sinus headache, even fever. It lasted approx a wk and a half - 2 wks. Then my girlfriend also got sick just as I was getting over it. Then just as she was getting over it approx 2wks later, I was instantly feeling all the symptoms once again. Then she experienced the same thing, just as I was getting rid of it she caught it again. And now for a third time I am having the full onset of symptoms once again. Its almost as if we never fully got rid of it. There are no children in our home. I ve heard of family members passing a cold back and forth, but never for this many times. Is it possible that maybe we have something more severe than just the normal winter cold?
