Suggest Treatment For An Irregular Heart Rate

For over a couple years now, every other day to every day, my heart will suddenly feel like it's going to stop beating, and then it pounds hard for the next few seconds, then slowly goes back to normal. It can go from happening twice a day to sometimes over 50 times a day. I am only 21, what should I do? :(

Dear sir/ Madam
Thanks for your query.
If this happens with feeling of dizziness/ passing out or a transient blackout or if you have history of unexplained fall or loss of consciousness, it is very important. Do visit your doctor on priority. However if no such symptoms is there, it may be simple premature beats which you are feeling. Most important step is to get an ECG done at time of episodes to determine the type of rhythm disturbance and to get a cardiac ultrasound done to ascertain presence of structural heart disease. Rest of work up depends upon these two things. Generally prognosis is very good in case of premature contractions without structural heart disease.
Sincerely
Sukhvinder
