Suggest Treatment For An Ulcer At The Side Of The Tongue

hi, Two months ago i got an ulcer at the side of my tongue, the ulcer is very near the circumvalette papilla. It healed after 2 weeks. Now that i checked it, i noticed a white dot on the area. I am very worried. I am thinking if it was scar, it shouldnt be white. BTW i am a dentist and reading a lot about oral cancer and leukoplakia.

Hello,

I can understand your concern. As you are a dentist, I am quite sure that you may have excluded all other possibilities before reaching provisional diagnosis of leukoplakia or cancer.

However, as you are having this white lesion for approximately about two years, I would advise you to visit an oral and maxillofacial surgeon and go for biopsy of the lesion. Biopsy will clear the diagnosis and you will also know if the lesion is benign, premalignant or malignant.

I hope this idea helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Take care.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
