Suggest Treatment For Androgenic Alopecia

Hi
I've been suffering with androgenic alopecia. I went to a doctor and was prescribed
1. Ketoconazole shampoo daily
2. Topical application of both finax tablet and hyphoral tablet mixed in a serum
3. Androanagen tablet once daily
Isn't the ketoconazole too much? It is in the shampoo and also in the hyphoral tablet. Is the treatment prescribed sufficient?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Only 2 drugs have US (FDA)–approved indications for treatment of androgenetic alopecia: minoxidil and finasteride.

1)Minoxidil lengthen the duration of the anagen phase, and increase the blood supply to the follicle.

2)Finasteride is a 5-alpha reductase type 2 inhibitor. It is not an antiandrogen. The drug can be used only in men because it can produce ambiguous genitalia in a developing male fetus.
In addition u can use herbs that are known for they property for supporting healthy hair and skin and maintaining hair color and fullness.

-Fo Ti root
-Eclipta alba whole plant
-Amla berry
-Ligustrum fruit

Feel free to ask me if u have any other question
Kind regards
Dr Mersila
