Suggest Treatment For Anemia

I ve been diagnosed with anaemia and I m taking about 65mg ferrous sulphate daily (3 tablets a day) and am noticing that I am even more exhausted than I was before I took them. Within an hour of taking the pill my head is fuzzy and I just want to sleep. Can you advise.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Treat the cause of blood loss. Eat foods with iron like jaggery, green leafy veggies. Eat and drink foods that help your body absorb iron, like orange juice, strawberries, broccoli, or other fruits and vegetables with vitamin C. Make healthy food choices. Eat lean red meat: This is the best source of easily absorbed heme iron. Eat chicken and fish: These are also good sources of heme iron. Consume vitamin C-rich foods: Eat vitamin C-rich foods during meals to increase the absorption of non-heme iron. You may need i.v iron or blood transfusion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
