Hi,

Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is a type of arthritis that primarily affects the spine. Symptoms of AS can vary from person to person and may include lower back pain, stiffness, and fatigue. Although fever and stiffness in the morning are common symptoms of AS, their absence does not necessarily rule out the diagnosis.

If you have been diagnosed with AS, it is important to work with your healthcare provider to develop an individualized treatment plan. Treatment for AS usually involves a combination of medications, exercise, and lifestyle modifications.

Medications commonly used to treat AS include nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs), and biological agents. NSAIDs are often the first line of treatment for AS and can help reduce pain and inflammation. DMARDs and biological agents work by targeting the immune system and can help slow the progression of the disease.

Exercise and physical therapy can also help manage AS. Exercises that focus on stretching and strengthening the muscles around the spine can help improve flexibility and reduce pain. In some cases, surgery may be recommended to address complications related to AS, such as spinal fractures or deformities.

In addition to medical treatments, several lifestyle modifications can help manage the symptoms of AS. Maintaining good posture, avoiding activities that aggravate symptoms, and getting adequate rest and exercise can all be helpful. A healthy diet, including foods that are rich in anti-inflammatory compounds, such as omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants, may also be beneficial.

It is important to continue working with your healthcare provider to monitor your symptoms and adjust your treatment plan as needed.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
