Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i haven t been diagnosed, but i m pretty sure i ve had depression for about 3 years now. it doesn t ever really go away and i m not planning on seeing anyone but i m becoming a little concerned because in the past few months, i ve completely lost my hunger cues (i don t realize when i m hungry and i don t even know when to stop eating) and i think my emotions have been switched off because apart from anxiety, i can t feel anything. I don t ever get angry, i m not afraid of the things i was used to, and i don t really ever feel sad or excited. could this be because of depression or could it possibly be another underlying illness? i had bloodwork done about a 7 months ago and i was pretty healthy.
We will try to help you in the best way possible. First of all, it's sad to know what you had been going through lately.
Based on the history you have shared, this could be psychiatric illness and you need to consult your psychiatrist. Low dose Serotonin selective receptors inhibitors will help you regain your emotions and condition will improve.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
