Suggest Treatment For Arthritis, Hemorrhoids And Vaginal Spotting

I am a 64 year old woman, very healthy, no issues except arthritis. On rare occasions I have had very light vaginal spotting. Bright red blood. The first time it happened, 2 yrs ago, my doctor sent me for an ultrasound which showed nothing abnormal. Every once in a while - especially after straining while constipated, I see light staining of red blood. I don t think it s from hemorrhoids (which I have) but could it be??

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Vaginal bleeding at your age warrants clinical assessment and more investigations. I suggest you to consult a gynecologist for clinical assessment, pelvic ultrasound and endometrial biopsy if required. The changes taking place in endometrial biopsy need to be examined by histopathology to know the cause of vaginal bleeding.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
