Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. My name is Kathy and I am a type II diabetic for about 4-5 years. My diabetes is conntrolled by diet with my A1C running 6.1-6.3 generally speaking. I have been doing well. Recently I ve noticed just the tip of my one big toe gets tingly at times, especially when sitting in my recliner. I have feeling, and it s not hot. I seem to have arthritis in my feet too, hereditary. I am a very active person, camping across the USA as well as traveling abroad and to S. America. I have an appt. with my family doctor in about 10 days and I plan to mention this to him. I read something about a blood test, maybe an EKG can be done?
dear kathy thanks for writing to health care magic. I appreciate your concern towards your health.Commonly in such cases we need to do a uric acid and a RA factor done initially to rule out the bone or joint ailments.Yes arthritis can be seen hereditary, but for a active individual like yourself please have these tests done with your doctors consultation. I am glad that you are maintaining good sugar levels please have a vit b12 done as well ,with proper diet care and rest. Have a good time, take care hope this helps most welcome for further queries.
