Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Seven months ago I was diagnosed with arthritis in my left foot. I was pain free for the last 5 months. In the last couple days the pain has returned. Only this time it is my right foot. can arthritis travel or move in such a way or could this be something else altogether? This affliction has been going on over the last 5 years or so. The comparison x- rays do show bone degeneration in the left foot. Thank you for your time.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Joint pain with bone degeneration can be due to wear & tear leading to osteoporosis 'relieved by dietary supplements or vitamin D, calcium /Osteoarthritis-age wise degeneration of bony ends in joint with a decrease of synovial fluid, relieved by shedding extra bodyweight, exercises, physiotherapy.
The dietary supplement of glycosaminoglycans or chondroitin anti-inflammatory drugs like Nimesulide over the counter/intraarticular injection of steroid or synovial fluid Or surgery are the treatment options.
Treatment except dietary supplements are gone under expert guidance (orthopaedic surgeon/physiotherapist).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
