Suggest Treatment For Asthma And Chest Congestion

my daughter and grandchild moved into a rental home 4 months ago next to a vacant lot that is overgrown and swampy, they recently heard noise in the attic that turns out to be a rat problem; they both have been sick for about 4 weeks and not getting better, congestion, stomach ache, achy, breathing ... I told her she needs to get out of there... they both have asthma ... can you please make us aware if this is a hazard to their health

Hi,

Yes, they need to leave and the sooner the better. In this environment, they are being exposed to many allergens. The wind can blow plant material including pollens and fungus from the adjacent swamp through the windows into the rental home. Inside the house, there can be a cockroach, cat fur, and dust mites. Also, rats carry disease.

Exposure to all of these contaminants will only make their asthma worse. They will continue to have congestion and abdominal pain.

Could they live with a family member for 2-3 weeks to show them how much better they will feel when they leave that place?

As soon as they move out, they should start to look for somewhere else to live immediately.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Arnold Zedd,
