Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello Dr. Rynne. I live with someone who smokes. She is fairly oblivious to the difficulties I have breathing when she is smoking around me or in the house in general. I am an asthmatic and can not change my living arrangements at this time. Short of pitching a tent in the back yard, what can I do to decrease my asthma episodes? Thank you.
You would need to increase the use of preventer inhalers whichever one you are using.
The preventer would be the medication with the inhaled steroid. If there are any other triggers you can reduce, you can also try this to see if this helps eg dust, pollen, animal dander
It is still possible that with the trigger (smoking in your environment), you would still have attacks.
I hope this helps
