Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I am having asthma symptoms ; shortness of breath, weezing with occasional flim. I have been taking care of a cat for a friend for over three months now. About a month ago, I developed bronchitis and I have been having shortness of breath and weezing every since. I am on a Ventolin inhaler and I am also using a portable nebulizer. These work for a while but then the symptoms come back. I have never had very many allergy reactions before. My doctor can t get me in for another few weeks, so I m checking with you.
Asthma can be sometimes related to pets. Its the waste of the pets that causes allergy to some people. So if your symptoms are after you have brought the cat, it may be related to it.
The asthma symptoms generally are well controlled with this nebulizer, so if you are not controlled, I suspect the cat may be causing your problems. If you really think that these symptoms are worse with the cat, you better return it to her owner. We sometimes prescribed steroids shirt course for such patients so you may see your GP or ER if symptoms are worse.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman, General & Family Physician
