I am about 1 1/2 yrs from a right carotid endarterectomy. Immediate post op was complicated by bleeding requiring re-exploration of the site. Otherwise, no problems since then. Follow up U/S show widely patent with no further plaque development in the site area. Over the last 6-8 mo I have intermittent episodes of hearing my blood flow in my right ear. It is very loud and sounds like listening to a dopler. Occasionally, the sound abates somewhat and other times it keeps me awake at night. I have occasional atrial flutter under Rx . I can tell when I'm having an episode before my BP drops just from listening to the rhythm.
No big deal probably, and I wasn't particularly concerned about it. However, over the last 1-2 wks, the level of hearing has lessened, and now I'm light headed, mild-moderate loss of balance, and just a "funny " feeling. It's not getting better and maybe is worsening, Any correlation? Just happen chance?
