Suggest Treatment For Atrial Septal Defect In A Child

I am worried about my friend, her 7 year old son has been diagnosed with ASD, but i am concerned for her safety and the safety of her daughter(younger sibling of 7 year old). Her son is constantly hurting his little sister and his mum and going into graphic details of how he wants to kill her and sit there and watch her dead corpse laying on the floor before killing himself. He threatens her with knives that he gets hold of no matter where she puts them. He also keeps on touching other peoples genitals. I don t know what to do as i fear he will kill them both when they are sleeping. Please help me save my friend and her daughter

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Consult a pediatric cardiologist and get evaluated.

In most cases, the defect will close by itself without any intervention.

In some kids, the surgical closure may be required.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
