Hi, welcome to our site. I am Dr Saumya Mittal, MD.
Read your query. That is a very significant question and i appreciate your problem. I will try my best to answer your query
There are a number of possibilities. I will discuss them investigation wise-
1. chest x ray- doing this test may help us know if there is any possibility of
pleural effusion with possible
pneumonia. there may also be chances of
pleuritis. The involvement of a local area may cause the
chest pain,
backache, and both would increase on taking a deep breath.
There is also a possibility of a
rib fracture in case there is a history of trauma to the chest. This presents as backache that increases on deep breathing and laughing. This may radiate forwards to the chest
2. Ecg- it is always important to rule out cardiac issues in a person with chest pain. Now I agree that the chest pain of cardiac origin is usually left sided, but atypical presentations are frequent. So getting an ekg, and echocardiofraphy if necessary, is always a good idea.
3. x ray cervical spine- ap/lateral= cervical radiculopathy- this usually affects the arms. But the pain in chest and back may also be involved. This is however not usually related to breathing and so I have put this possibility late.
I hope this helps you. Inform the reports mentioned above/if any other so I can be of help further.
