Suggest Treatment For Back Pain After Back Bone Fracture

my mom(age:48) had a fracture in her backbone due to a fall in august last year. According to doctors it is a hair line fracture in her L3 bone. she was advised to take bed rest for complete 3 months, along with some prescriptions of calcium tablets and some pain kilers. after that they told that since the calcium contents in her body is less we cant expect for the fracture to heal before one year. she still gets pain if she stands, sits or walks around for a while. they asked her to wear a belt to support her back bcoz of which she complians of pain sometimes. The doctors still prescribe lot of tablets which i doubt if its really required, which includes many calcium and vitamin tablets along with paracetomal.

My worry is that does she really require to take so many tablets for this purpose. its approx 10tablets per day. Can we expect that the method followed is right or do we need to go for some other doctor for consultation.
