Suggest Treatment For Back Pain And Numbness In The Hands

My mother is 68 years old and for a month now has not been able to walk because of back pain. she has a walker and is waiting for approval to get a "sit down" MRI due to her intense clausterphobia. She has diabetes and high blood pressure which she is on meds for both (no insulin yet). She also complains of numbness in hands all of the time.
