Suggest Treatment For Back Pain Due To Swollen Spine

I have lower back pain and have had it for over a year now..I went to my doctor once and he said there was swelling between the spine and it would heal on its own and I would only have pain once and awhile....well it has never got better there has not been on day in the last 17 months that it has been pain free..Its a throbbing pain and is there if I stand sit lay down always...when I cough it feels as though my spine is going to tear in two...I feel tingling into my feet and Hurt Please help me do I need to insist on a MRI or something
