My dad was diagnosed with cancer in December last year, incidental finding from an MRI for back pain. Removed mass that was benign, since they were in there they took a few biopsies and found cancer in his abdomen 5.8cm. Started chemotherapy, dr planned on 12 treatments. After 6 treatments they did an MRI and it was working, it had shrunk to 2.6cm, so he kept on with the chemo. Had a PET scan after last chemo treatment and found that sometime after the 6th chemo, the chemo stopped working and the cancer grew back this time bigger than originally found, close to two inches AND bumped and attached to the edge of his liver. He saw a radiation specialist on Friday and she stated it was to big for radiation. Today his normal oncologist recommended him to see another specialist that could insert b.b s or metal balls in the veins to clog the blood flow to the cancer area hoping without oxygen and blood it would die. Have you heard of such a thing? If so what type of surgeon is that called?
