Suggest Treatment For Bat Bite Like Itchy Scars On Head

I found a bat flying in my house 3 days ago. I called an extriminator to come remove it and two different people came and could not find it. This was yesterday, last night it flew out from my bed and I could not see where it went. I haven t seen it tonight... Yet.. But now I am worried bc my son has a bite on his head and has been complaining of it itching for a few days now. When I first noticed it I believe it was the same night I saw the bat. Could this be a bat bite, how do I know? He is four? I m so scared

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

If you are suspecting bat bite or even in doubt then I would advise you to wash the area with soap and plenty of water. You must visit hospital immediately assuming you or your son has been bitten and take medication for rabies as some bats harbor the virus.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anoop Kumar, General & Family Physician
