Suggest Treatment For Bee Sting Causing Hardness And Swelling In Finger

My wife was stung on index finger today about 5 hrs ago. She thought it was a humble bee but not positive. I had her dip it in flour as an old home remedy I had heard of. Tonight her finger is swollen and very hard. Is this normal or should she seek treatment?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

She can use ice on it. Also, she may use antihistamines such Benadryl or Citerizine a tablet before bed. If swelling continues to grow in size she may need to do a cortico-steroid injection.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
