Suggest Treatment For Bipolar Disorder

Hello, I m 18 & I m currently on Adderall XR (60 MG) for ADD, & Depakote ER (1000 MG) & Zyprexa EQ (20 MG) for Bipolar [Type 1]. Here s the story, I honestly don t think that I have Bipolar [Type 1] , but maybe a little social anxiety, really, really bad insomnia, & of course ADD & for the 3/4 of a to a year I ve been on the Bipolar [Type 1] meds I ve gained 90 LBS, more social anxiety, & I’ve had some, but barely anymore sleep & I ve been just rising in dosage. ...So anyhow literally a week ago I just stopped it [Cold turkey, plain out, no more, nada, none, zero]. I cannot stand it anymore & yes, I refuse to take them anymore. 2 days after I began to lose my appetite & than another 2 days later I began to feel nausea any moment I m in too much light or standing up too much & now I can only eat a half a meal a day, I can t be standing up for longer than 10 min , I can t even be in light longer than 5 , I m getting nausea just sitting down for too long, & I can barely think clearly [Rational & happy, yes, but, in a mixed up, foggy, zoning out kind of way]. I feel like it is all getting worst & I don t even see my psych for a week. Please help & tell me what you honestly think I should do...

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Dear user, thanks for the query. I understand your confusion right now & simply seeing the cocktail of medications you need to take for host of conditions mentioned in your questions appears mind boggling!! So my sympathies & apologies for that. Coming to your problem, ADHD can frequently turn out to be Bipolar disorder in adulthood & medications can Adderall can frequently unmask latent bipolar disorder. Similarly Bipolar disorder tends to have various anxiety disorders namely social anxiety & generalized anxiety disorder & various phobias as co morbidity. Hence its possible that you may in fact have all the 3 disorders & not social anxiety alone! Your current set of symptoms appear more of a MEDICATION DISCONTINUATION REACTION to me. Hence, we can try & streamline your treatment. We can try a combination of Depakote+ Daxid+Wellbutrin+Xanax (sos basis) which should take care of all the 3 problems you have. Discuss with your Psychiatrist for the change. Good Luck
