Psychiatrist 's  Response
hello friend
in bipolar disorder, pt has episodic symptoms of depression and mania.
during depression , he remains sad, decreased interaction, decreased pleasures in activities. while during manic phase, pt become excessively cheerful, talkative, over familiar, aggressive, decreased need for sleep.
if your brother is diagnosed as a case of bipolar mood disorder by registered psychiatrist, i would like to suggest following things for his treatment

1. lithium plasma level test
therapeutic plasma lithium level is 0.6 to 1,2 mmol/l
if it is not achieved lithium doses should be raised from 300mg
2. to control his aggressive behavior add tablet olanzepine 10mg at night
