sir,my son 28 years is suffering from bipolar disorder,when we consulted a neuropsychiatrist and he prescribed tab oxcarbamazepine SR 900mg,tab quietapine 100mg one HS,tab Ecitalopram one in morning.My son have some problem after taking oxcarbamazepine as giddiness,dryness of mouth, tremors.Our physcian have gone abroad.Please advise us what to do.Whether there are other options? Taking anti-epileptic and neuropsychiatric drugs can have side effects. Your son have been prescribed with antiepileptic Oxcarbamazepine and antipsychotic mood stabilizers - Quetiapine and Escitalopram. These drugs can cause the above described side effects. If these effects are severe, do not wait and consult another psychiatrist asap. But if these are minor and can be managed then continue the drug. In any case do not stop the drug without consulting a doctor.
