Hi,
According to the phase IV clinical trial that was run by EhealthMe on April, 29, 2022, among 14902 people, 14 people or 0.1% people had
hallucination while using
Ceftriaxone. Ceftriaxone may cause symptoms of some serious allergic reactions like rashes, swelling of face, lips, tongue, hands or feet, breathing difficulties, wheezing, dizziness etc. Other rare side effects are
encephalopathy, mental status change, confusion, seizures, myoclonus etc. On the other hand, carbapenems including Meropenem may cause some rare side effects like neurotoxic symptoms such as encephalopathy, headache, seizures, confusion, numbness or
tingling sensation etc. If these side effects are noticed during using these medications, then the prescribing doctor should be informed immediately for
medical help.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Zubayer Alam, General And Family Physician,
