Suggest Treatment For Bleeding From Roof Of Mouth

How can you stop bleeding from roof of mouth? Mom is 86 and takes baby aspirin. She has a sore on the roof of her mouth and it bleeds profusely. I believe it caused by poor denture fit. Unfortunately it is a holiday week-end and I cannot take her to the dentist. I did take her to the emergency room. That is where the Dr. located the problem. She has begun a soft diet but if it bleeds again how can she stop it quickly?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns....

As per your complain in case if your mother is taking baby aspirin that is a blood thinner and in case if she has got sore on the roof of the mouth secondary to poor fit of denture and as it might have got continuously injured leading to bleeding and as she is on blood thinners the bleeding can be profuse and due to anti-platelet activity blood does not clot soon leading to excess bleeding or haemorrhage..
First of all she should stop wearing the denture..
You can take a sterile piece of gauge and put gentle pressure over the palate and hold it for some time so that bleeding stops..
She can also hold cold water in her mouth for some time and than swallow it as cold also help in stopping bleeding..
Take a soft diet and more of liquids..
In case if still bleeding continues consult an Emergency room immediately..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
