Suggest Treatment For Bleeding Gum Post Tooth Removal
My daughter just lost a tooth towards the back of her mouth on the top set of teeth and where she lost her tooth is a piece if gum I believe either filled with blood or blood around it. Please help ,should I see a dentist , can I take care of it myself or should I just wait a while?
Hello, Rinse the area well, multiple times a day with warm salt water. Anti-inflammatory medication such as Tylenol or Advil may help reduce swelling and limit discomfort. If bleeding right afterwards, apply pressure by biting on gauze for 15 minutes. This can be repeated. The tissue under the lost tooth is typically sensitive, blood filled and will heal with the tooth gone. Keep the area clean to promote healing. Salt water is cleansing. Gentle brushing will help stimulate healing. The adult tooth will move continue into place with the baby tooth gone. As long as you do not see signs of infection or a piece of broken root stuck in the gum, healing will occur quickly. You can visit your dentist to check the area, but generally it is not necessary unless there is a complication. Make sure that you are on schedule with real visits. I recommend that children visit the dentist two times a year for routine dental care. Thank you for your inquiry.
