Suggest Treatment For Bleeding In Ear With Running Nose
I think I am starting to get a cold, my nose started running and I blew my nose several times and my right ear started to plug. That was 5 hours ago. I woke up with a plugged ear and when I placed a q-tip in the canal it came out with blood. I did not push too far in ... I have not looked on the pillow yet for blood.
Blowing of the nose pushes the nasal secretions in the middle ear through Eustachian tube. The fluid develops into inflammation and secretion of more fluid. The eardrum being the weakest point it gets ruptured hence there is blood on q-tip. I would advise you the following: Stop blowing nose to avoid further complications in the ears. Nasal and oral decongestant. Ibuprofen if it suits you. Prescription based antibiotic. Consult an ENT Surgeon for clinical evaluation, examination and further management. Complete the courses till cured well.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
